Schoolgirl expelled for £140 new hairstyle
Metro reported on October 27 that staff at Pindar George School refused to let Chenise Benson enter the school because of the £140 haircut she had just gotten for her sister's birthday party. She was sent home to North Yorkshire (UK) for violating the school's uniform regulations.

Chenise’s father Daren accused the school of unfairness because a Jamaican pupil with a similar red and black hairstyle was allowed to attend school while his daughter was expelled for her black and white hair. “The hairstyle is worth £140 and my daughter will keep it for a year. So she will not be able to go to school for a year,” Mr Daren said.
Daren added that he had read the hairstyle policy and found that his 14-year-old daughter was not in breach. He had therefore contacted the North Yorkshire authorities to protest the school’s decision. A document on the school’s website states: “Please note that we do not permit pupils to have unnatural hairstyles.”

The school has spoken out and asked parents to pay attention to the school's regulations. The decision to send their children to school is the parents' agreement to ensure that their children comply with those regulations.
This is the first time we have encountered such a situation and had to explain the rules so clearly, said a spokesman for Pindar George School.
