On the night of January 16, dozens of detectives from District 5 Police (HCMC) suddenly raided Tan Ha restaurant on Tran Hung Dao street, managed by Ms. Pham Thi Dep (34 years old).

In two karaoke rooms, police discovered nearly a dozen scantily clad female attendants shaking dice to compete in drinking beer with nine Taiwanese and Chinese men.

Of the 25 employees at the restaurant, four girls and one man tested positive for drugs. The waitresses said they had to use drugs to have the energy to serve customers and drink beer all night.

District 5 police temporarily seized two sets of karaoke machines operating without a license, and temporarily detained employees who tested positive for drugs for processing.
