Lao PDR presents Medals to Party and State leaders
On December 26, the ceremony to present noble medals of the Lao Party and State to senior leaders and former leaders of Vietnam took place at the Presidential Palace.
The ceremony was chaired by Lao General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone, and also attended by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

On behalf of the Lao Party and State leaders, Lao General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone presented the National Gold Medal to President Truong Tan Sang and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung; and the First Class Freedom Medal to Politburo members: Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc; Vice President of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong; Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee Ngo Van Du; Head of the Central Propaganda Department Dinh The Huynh; Party Central Committee Secretaries: Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission Ha Thi Khiet; Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Truong Hoa Binh; Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army Ngo Xuan Lich; and many former Politburo members and former Party Central Committee Secretaries.
Speaking at the ceremony, Lao General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone emphasized that this is a noble award from the Lao Party and State to thank and honor the outstanding contributions of Vietnamese leaders and former leaders to promoting the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos over the past time.
The Lao Party General Secretary and President affirmed that in all circumstances, the Lao Party, State and people will continue to preserve and promote the special, everlasting relationship between the two countries.
On behalf of the leaders and former senior leaders of Vietnam, President Truong Tan Sang expressed his honor to receive the noble Medal of Laos; affirming that the special relationship between the two countries is a priceless asset of the two peoples.
Over the years, the two Parties, States and peoples have always stood side by side, supported each other and cooperated closely in many fields. Vietnam is deeply aware that all victories of the Vietnamese Revolution are always associated with the great support and assistance of the Lao people. The President believes that the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries will increasingly develop and deepen.
Previously, Lao General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone received a delegation from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association and the Liaison Committee of former Vietnamese experts and volunteer soldiers in Laos, led by Mr. Vu Trong Kim, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and President of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association.
General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone and Mr. Vu Trong Kim expressed their joy that the Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year (on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty) was a great success, with many exciting and meaningful activities held in many localities of the two countries throughout 2012; they believe that in the future, the young generations of both sides will continue the tradition and continue to nurture the loyal and close relationship between Vietnam and Laos for everlasting development, contributing to the development of the two countries, for peace, stability and development in the region and the world./.
