Tomato juice can help sober up faster
Drinking tomato juice when drinking alcohol can reduce the high alcohol concentration in the body, helping to limit drunkenness and sober up faster.
This is a study conducted jointly by Asahi Corporation and Kagome Company of Japan. They gave the experimental subjects of group A 100ml of Shochu - a famous Japanese liquor - and 480ml of tomato juice to drink several times. While group B only drank Shochu and water.
The results showed that the blood alcohol concentration of people in group A was about 30% lower than that of people in group B.
The time it took for the first group to metabolize and excrete alcohol from the body was about 4 hours and 10 minutes, while the time for the other group was 5 hours.
The researchers believe that components in tomato juice activate enzymes that metabolize alcohol out of the body.
After drinking this juice, the concentration of pyruvate in the blood increases, increasing the activity of Lactate dehydrogenase in the liver, helping to produce a large amount of Coenzyme molecules called Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide.
These molecules have the effect of activating the function of Alcohol Dehydrogenase to metabolize alcohol and Aldehyde dehydrogenase to metabolize acetaldehyde, thereby promoting alcohol metabolism./.
