First, his family tried raising 2-3 turtles to determine the characteristics of the turtle. This is an easy animal to raise, just need to raise in a clean water environment, the main food is trash fish, industrial bran. The risk is low, but the economic efficiency is high, the output price is stable. It is possible to take advantage of the home pond to release the turtles, the cost for the breed is about 700,000 VND/1 turtle, the raising time lasts from 12-15 months/1 batch.

Recognizing the strengths of this animal, his family decided to invest heavily in raising soft-shell turtles. In the first batch, because they were not familiar with the way of laying and incubating eggs, most of the female soft-shell turtles laid eggs in water, so all the eggs rotted. After a few batches, he learned to breed them by letting soft-shell turtles lay eggs on land.

Mr. Thanh confided: In Thai Hoa town, there are only about 3 families raising soft-shell turtles. My family has been raising soft-shell turtles for 2-3 years now, earning an average income of 100 million VND per year. Currently, my family has about 2,000 soft-shell turtles that are growing very well, each soft-shell turtle weighs 2-3 kg, and costs 300,000 VND/kg.

From his family's model, Mr. Thanh spread the model to his neighbors to follow. In the near future, his family plans to increase the number of turtles raised to 4,000. Raising turtles is a highly effective way to develop the economy, a popular specialty dish in towns and big cities today, not only because of its delicious, nutritious and cool meat, but also because turtles can cure many diseases.
