Raising goats for breeding in Tan Ky
(Baonghean) - Present at Nghia Phuc commune stadium on the afternoon of April 24, people were gathering to wait to receive goats to raise. Ms. Luu Thi Dong, hamlet 3, was excited: A few years ago, her family invested 10 million VND to build a barn and bought 4 goats to raise. Recently, the hamlet and commune voted her as one of the families to receive goats from the State's goat breeding program.
Mr. Dang Trong Ninh, Tan Hoa hamlet, excitedly said: The family has been raising goats for more than 10 years, and has experience in raising breeding goats. At the peak, there were up to 80 goats, and thanks to raising goats, the family has a stable life. Receiving these 5 breeding goats has created more motivation for the family to develop the goat herd to develop the economy.

People of Nghia Phuc commune receive breeding goats from the program to raise. |
Mr. Ngo Vinh Son - Deputy Director of the Provincial Livestock Breeding Center, said: This is a goat breeding program, implemented by the National Agricultural Extension Center in Nghe An. The program supports 100% of the goat price for the people. Each breeding goat weighs from 15 - 18 kg, purchased from Nghia Dan, is in good health, and is vaccinated before being supplied to the people. After considering the natural conditions, the Provincial Livestock Breeding Center implemented it in 2 communes of Tan Ky district, Nghia Phuc and Huong Son.
Families that are recognized as goat farmers are those that have the conditions to raise goats and are committed to raising goats long-term, with the aim of creating conditions for the locality to develop its goat herd. For Nghia Phuc commune, the program supported 9 families with 46 goats, each household received 5 breeding goats. In Huong Son commune, the program supported 31 goats, for 6 households. The total number of goats supported for Tan Ky this time is 77, worth nearly 300 million VND. Among the households that receive goats to raise, the program prioritizes new households, but must have the conditions in terms of human resources as well as barns, with the aim of using goat farming as a spearhead for family economic development.
Mr. Dang Xuan Nam - Vice Chairman of Nghia Phuc Commune People's Committee, said: Being a disadvantaged locality, benefiting from Program 135/CP, the mountainous terrain is a favorable condition for developing livestock farming, especially goat farming. In recent years, meat goats have good prices and are easy to sell, many households in Nghia Phuc have invested in barns to raise goats, bringing high economic efficiency. However, the number of goat farms with large numbers is very small, mainly small-scale farming, each household has from 10 to 30 goats, so the total goat herd in the locality is only nearly 700 goats. From the goat breeding support program, it is a favorable condition for families to develop goat farming...
