(Baonghean.vn) - In Nam Thanh, Nam Dan, it is easy to buy "clean" chickens and "clean" pigs from concentrated farms following VietGAP standards.

Since 2013, the flock of chickens has always grown to nearly 3,000 chickens of Mr. Nguyen Danh Chin's family, hamlet 7A, Nam Thanh commune, Nam Dan, and has been raised according to VietGAP farming methods.

Mr. Chin shared: By participating in the program, my family not only receives regular guidance from technical staff on how to raise and prevent diseases for chickens, but also participates in learning from experiences in other farming areas, and grasps forecast information about the market situation and demand to adjust the number of flocks and appropriate raising time.

Not far away is the integrated livestock farm of Mr. Tran Van Nam's family, hamlet 2A. With over 150 pigs, nearly 10 cows and nearly 2,000 chickens, Mr. Nam participated in the VietGAP livestock program right from when the program first "entered" Nam Thanh. Thanks to strictly following the strict farming processes, his family's products have built a reputation among consumers in recent years.

Mr. Nam said: Traders from districts and Vinh City "know the goods" and come to the farm to get them, they almost never have to sell them. In addition to buying feed directly from factories in the province, helping my family's livestock products not only be clean but also reduce costs and increase efficiency, I also act as a feed agent for people in the commune.

With over 150 pigs, nearly 10 cows and nearly 2,000 chickens, Mr. Tran Van Nam, hamlet 2A, has participated in VietGAP farming since the beginning of 2013.

Mr. Nguyen Tu Nam, head of the VietGAP livestock group, Nam Thanh commune, said: With 60 participating households, the Nam Thanh commune GAP group is divided into 3 groups, of which two households raise chickens with a scale of 3,000 - 5,000 pigs/household, the rest raise pigs with a scale of 60 - 200 pigs/household. By participating in this model, the amount of livestock products produced is quite large and concentrated, disease prevention is quite guaranteed, and the products ensure food hygiene and safety.

However, households participating in the GAP model in Nam Thanh are still concerned about consumption. People are mainly selling through private traders or bringing their products to the market, depending entirely on the market and not having a stable outlet for consumption.

"We are organizing households to come together and support each other in buying food at the source and selling products at the source, not only to reduce product costs, but also to have a stable source of consumption, without being forced to buy cheaply from traders," said Mr. Nam.
