4-seat car crushed again at "crossroad of death"

(Baonghean.vn) - At about 1:45 p.m. on July 29, at the intersection between National Highway 46 and Vinh City bypass in Hung Tay commune (Hung Nguyen district), a traffic accident occurred between a 4-seat car and a fruit truck, causing severe damage to both vehicles.

Many people who witnessed the accident said the 4-seat car with license plate 37A-090.25 (driver's identity unknown) was traveling on National Highway 46 in the direction of Nam Dan - Vinh City.

When arriving at the intersection with Vinh City bypass in Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district (Nghe An), it crashed into a fruit truck with license plate 73C-015.24 running from North to South.

The impact was so strong that the 4-seater car bounced back. The car's airbags deployed at the time of the collision, so the driver was lucky to escape with only minor injuries.

As of 2:30 p.m., the Hung Nguyen District Traffic Police were still examining the scene and investigating the cause of the accident. At the scene, both vehicles were damaged, with the front of the 4-seater car being deformed and its right wheel blown off.

Lieutenant Colonel Ho Hung Cuong - Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Team of Hung Nguyen District Police said that this has been a "black spot" for traffic accidents in the past few months since the two routes National Highway 46 and Vinh City bypass were expanded and upgraded.

According to statistics, since the beginning of May, there have been 31 traffic accidents on this road. At least 3 people died on the spot, many were injured, dozens of vehicles including motorbikes and cars were damaged. On average, there is an accident every two days here.

It is known that, due to the continuous traffic accidents occurring at this intersection, the Provincial Department of Transport has proposed to request additional funding to install a traffic light system and the Ministry of Transport has approved the policy of building traffic lights here. The construction unit is surveying and installing them.
