Imported cars reach highest level since 2010
The number of imported cars with 9 seats or less in October 2015 reached the highest level since January 2010.
Preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs show that the import volume of all types of completely built-up cars in October 2015 was 13.96 thousand units, up 62.7%, the import value was 230 million USD, up 17.1% compared to the previous month. Of which, the import volume of cars with 9 seats or less reached 7.58 thousand units - the highest level since January 2010, up 115% compared to the previous month and accounting for 55% of the total import volume of all types of completely built-up cars in the month.

From the beginning of the year to the end of October 2015, the number of imported cars of all types was 97,32 thousand units, an increase of 88.1%; the value was 2.33 billion USD, a sharp increase of 101.8% compared to the same period in 2014.
China is the main market supplying completely built-up cars of all kinds to Vietnam in the 10 months of 2015 with 21,050 units, a sharp increase of 115%; followed by South Korea: 20,790 units, an increase of 59.3%; Thailand: 20,330 units, an increase of 89.8%; India: 17,540 units, an increase of 104.2% ... compared to the same period in 2014.
In the past 10 months of 2015, Vietnam imported nearly 38,680 completely built-up cars with 9 seats or less, up 69.7%; the value reached 417 million USD, up sharply 50% compared to the same period in 2014.
In particular, in the past 10 months, the leading market supplying cars with 9 seats or less to Vietnam was India (origin India) with 17.49 thousand units, accounting for 45% of the total volume of this type of car imported into the country and increasing by 105% compared to 10 months of 2014. Next was the Korean market with 8.29 thousand units, increasing by 38.9%; the Thai market with 4.76 thousand units, increasing by 111%; the Japanese market with 3.34 thousand units, increasing by 47.9% compared to 10 months of 2014./
