"Holding on to straw" and "Comprehensive view"
(Baonghean) - The article “Building a cassava starch processing factory in Anh Son: Good or bad?” by author Hung Chau published on page 1 of the Daily on December 18 was voted as a good work of week 3 of December 2013. This column would like to publish some comments on this article.
1. "Holding straw in the stomach"
A good article, in addition to having "expensive" details, specific and elaborate investigation, honest reflection, the article must also be predictive and author Hung Chau has done that by pointing out "Benefits or harms?" when building a cassava starch processing factory in Anh Son. Not only in Nghe An newspaper but also in many press publications, having such predictive articles is not much, if not very rare. It can be seen that the author has had a close analysis, especially a good grasp of the situation when writing this article. That is shown from updating data, to careful and in-depth analysis to answer the question of which crop is the main crop at present and which crop is the strength in Anh Son district? Tea, that is obvious because for a long time when mentioning Anh Son, people have known the folk brands such as the famous Gay tea, or later the Hung Son tea brand.
Sugarcane is also a plant that brings high economic efficiency and there is no reason why Anh Son will not continue to promote this strength when there are favorable natural conditions and suitable soil conditions. That is not to mention, sugarcane also has the ability to adapt to poor, barren lands. In addition, from the practical perspective of Nghia Dan, Quy Hop... it shows that if well cared for, if the price of sugarcane is stable, sugarcane will be a plant that develops sustainably and is a plant that enriches rural people. This is even more grounded when at present, Song Lam Sugarcane Company is gradually recovering and is really "thirsty" for raw materials. As for rubber trees, it is not without reason that when Nghe An Rubber Company implements a rubber tree planting project in the province, Anh Son is one of the first districts chosen to implement it.
Analyzing the three "advantages" and three "potentials" that are still considered the "tripod" strengths also helps us see that what Anh Son "lacks" now is the lack of land, the lack of mechanisms, the lack of methods, the lack of specific orientation, not the "secret" of crops. Is it possible that when a district has so many opportunities (for many other districts in the province, it is difficult to even dream of) to develop the agricultural and forestry economy, which have not yet been fully exploited, it would change the crop structure and change the practices that have long been the district's strengths? Meanwhile, cassava is not only unstable, it destroys the land, and potentially pollutes the environment... Reading this article, I remember talking to officials of Thach Ngan commune, Con Cuong district, they complained that: Thach Ngan land is now rented by Anh Son people to grow tea and Con Cuong people are working for Anh Son people right on their own land... With such a good opportunity, why doesn't the Anh Son district government know how to promote it and instead "bring straw" to "burden their stomachs"?
