(Baonghean) -In the middle of Vientiane (Laos), there is a Thai ethnic business owner who specializes in producing tunnel bricks, loved by Lao people because he has created stable jobs for them. Originally from a particularly difficult mountainous district of Nghe An, he is an example of determination to get rich.
The tunnel brick factory named Vi-la-con-na has a capacity of 30 million bricks/year, Lao people in Phone kho village, Saythani district, Vientiane capital often call it the Vietnamese brick factory. The director is Mr. Vi Van Xuc, from Muong Xen town (Ky Son). After more than 20 years of working in the Lao market, 2 years ago, he decided to build this tunnel brick factory. He proposed to the Vietnam-Laos Nghe An Investment and Cooperation Joint Stock Company to invest more than 2 million USD to restore the factory that the previous owner had to abandon due to lack of human resources. Although it has only been in operation for nearly 2 years, the factory has been revived. Mr. Kongchai- Phoneko village, Saythani district said: “I am a brick carrier for this factory, I am here every day, every week, every month. I can make one or two trips a day, some days more. There is daily work and a stable income, before I was worried about what to do to earn money after buying a car, now I am very secure and attached to this brick factory”.

The Lao Labor Law stipulates that foreign-invested enterprises must have 70% of their workforce made up of local Lao people. However, the labor psychology of the people here is inherently unstable, and they can quit their jobs at any time during holidays. The core thing that Mr. Vi Van Xuc realized was that if he wanted the factory to operate well, he had to maintain the workforce. Understanding the customs and habits of the people, he proactively turned his factory into a labor market. People from the surrounding villages could come to work by the hour or by the day and pay immediately after handing over the products.
With this method, Mr. Xuc's brick factory never lacks labor, and people always have jobs and stable income. In addition, Mr. Vi Van Xuc also brought more than 30 workers who are ethnic minorities from two mountainous districts of Nghe An province, Tuong Duong and Ky Son, to work. He considers this force as the core for the factory's existence, and they are highly skilled workers who are committed to the company. Up to now, the factory's brick output has reached 20 million products and all the products produced are consumed.
Visiting the brick factory of the highland boss, Mr. Luong Quang Kinh, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee - Head of the Ethnic Minorities Committee of Nghe An province, expressed: “I am very excited because there is an ethnic minority business, Mr. Vi Van Xuc, who grew up from the economic development movement of the mountainous district of Ky Son, reaching out to operate in Laos. He has a very flexible and humane method of using labor and brings an average income for workers from 4.5 to 5 million VND. With that momentum, he is reaching out to compete with many other businesses to become a business with leading products in Laos”.
In addition to creating many jobs for local people and effective production and business, the factory also has good relations with the locality, strictly complies with Lao laws, and contributes to creating a good image of Vietnamese enterprises investing in Laos. In the near future, on its 5-hectare land, the factory will build a more spacious and decent management building and dormitory for workers.
