On the same morning, the 5th National Assembly of Cambodia, elected on July 28, held its first session under the chairmanship of King Norodom Sihamoni.
The above meeting was conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Cambodian Constitution that after 60 days from the date of voting, the new National Assembly must hold its first session.
However, in the Cambodian National Assembly on September 23, only 68 new parliamentarians of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) attended the meeting under the direction of the oldest parliamentarian, Mr. Heng Samrin, President of the 5th National Assembly and Honorary President of the CPP.
On the afternoon of September 23, all parliamentarians will enter the Royal Palace to take the oath before King Sihamoni and receive the immunity of a parliamentarian.
On September 24, the new National Assembly will meet to elect the National Assembly's leadership and vote of confidence on the Cabinet members of the Royal Government for the 5th term at the request of Prime Minister Hun Sen./.
