Nawaz Sharif nominated as Prime Minister of Pakistan
Mr. Nawaz Sharif is likely to become the first Pakistani to become Prime Minister three times.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nation (PML-N) said on May 26 that it had nominated Nawaz Sharif as Prime Minister, two weeks after the party won a majority of parliamentary seats in the general election, Xinhua news agency reported.
The final approval of the nomination will be taken at a party meeting before the start of the parliamentary session. Since the PML-N won a bare majority in the general election, it will have no problem in making Mr Sharif the prime minister.
Nawaz Sharif has served as Prime Minister twice and is on track to become the first Pakistani to hold the position three times.
According to Pakistan's interim Information Minister Arif Nizami, the next session of the National Assembly will be convened on June 2./.
