Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh passed away.

After a period of attentive care, at 12:35 p.m. on February 13, due to his declining health, Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh - Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee was taken to his private home at 189 Cach Mang Thang 8, Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District, Da Nang City.

At 1:15 p.m. the same day, Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh breathed his last at his home. Currently, leaders of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang City were present with his family to prepare for the funeral. Hundreds of people also gathered in front of the house.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, fell ill in May 2014 and was treated at Hospital 108 with a diagnosis of myelodysplastic syndrome. He was treated in Singapore in June and July 2014, then transferred to the US for treatment from August 2014 to early 2015.

According to information from American medical experts and his family, Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh has received 3 rounds of chemotherapy to proceed with a bone marrow transplant. However, up to now, the conditions have not met the professional requirements, so the medical experts in the US and his family have agreed to stop chemotherapy and focus on improving Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh's health in Vietnam according to the regimen of American and Vietnamese experts.

On the evening of January 9, the plane carrying Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh to Da Nang for treatment landed safely at Da Nang airport. Immediately afterwards, Mr. Thanh was transferred by ambulance to Da Nang hospital. At that time, doctors said that Mr. Thanh was still conscious, with normal blood parameters.
