The White House also acknowledged that the budget impasse that led to the government shutdown required President Obama to stay in Washington.
The decision means that Mr. Obama will not depart on October 5 as planned for a tour of four Asian countries. Previously, the White House owner also canceled his visit to Malaysia and the Philippines.
On the same day, Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa confirmed that the country had received a phone call from President Obama stating that he could not attend or participate in the upcoming APEC Summit./.
