Mr. Poroshenko announced "evidence" accusing Russia of participating in the war in Eastern Ukraine

At the Munich Security Conference on February 7, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko presented Russian passports that he called "evidence accusing" Russia of sending soldiers to support separatist forces in the East against Ukrainian government forces.

Speaking to hundreds of guests at the conference, Mr. Poroshenko said: "How much more evidence does the world need to admit this obvious truth, a foreign military machine, and that is Russian tanks and Russian soldiers."

This statement was made when previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that Moscow had nothing to do with the war in Eastern Ukraine.

With the "evidence" presented, the Ukrainian leader also called on the international community to provide stronger support for Ukraine in the fight against separatist forces that he said were supported by Russia.

He called on the West to provide Ukraine with "self-defense" weapons to fight separatist forces. However, the issue of providing weapons to Ukraine is a major disagreement among European countries.

President Poroshenko also welcomed German Chancellor Angela Merkel's efforts to find a peaceful solution for Ukraine, but stressed that Ukraine needed an immediate answer in the next few hours or days.

The Ukrainian President also said that the conflicts in Eastern Ukraine have so far killed 1,432 soldiers, 5,638 civilians and forced 1 million people to flee./.
