Chinese President Xi Jinping is on a state visit to the UK from October 20 to 23. During this time, he and his wife Peng Liyuan will stay at Buckingham Palace.
Xi is scheduled to visit a pub near Chequers, where the British prime minister often vacations, on October 22, and is expected to try the iconic fish and chips. He and Peng will then have dinner with British Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife.
The Sunday Times quoted a source involved in the arrangements for the visit as saying the Chinese were keen to order fish and chips. "They kept asking. Do they know something we don't know about the Chequers kitchen?"

China attaches great importance to the state visit to Britain, said Liu Xiaoming, China's ambassador to the UK. "On previous foreign trips, the president would visit several countries in one trip. But this time, Xi's state visit will be to only one country - the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland."
The last time a Chinese president visited Britain was in 2005.
