Also according to Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam: “In the context of complicated developments in the regional and world situation, posing great challenges to peace and development, especially in ensuring security, safety and freedom of navigation, to maintain peace and stability, creating a favorable environment for development, it is necessary to promote the role and responsibility of the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists and the press of ASEAN countries in enhancing understanding among peoples, promoting cooperation among countries, as well as upholding justice in resolving disputes and disagreements by peaceful means and in compliance with international law.
The rapid development of technology and media poses great opportunities, but also poses many challenges for the press, requiring it to proactively grasp technology for the increasingly rapid and diverse information needs of the public. The trust of readers and listeners in the press is based on fast, accurate and objective information. This is the core of creating the development of press information with diverse and accurate information sources.

“Press and media organizations and journalists in the region have always been pioneers with great responsibility, guiding public opinion towards good values, contributing to the prosperous development of the community. I believe that the results of the meetings between journalist delegations on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Federation and within the framework of the Federation's 18th General Assembly in Hanoi will become a specific action plan for the Federation, ASEAN journalists and each country. Thereby, the role and responsibility of the press will be increasingly promoted for an ASEAN community that is people-oriented and creates a common identity for the region,” Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam added.
In particular, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam congratulated the new President of the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists for the 2015-2017 term, journalist Thuan Huu (President of the Vietnam Journalists Association).
