Gangster boss arrested
While collecting protection money from a business, a mafia boss in Hung Yen was arrested by the criminal police.
On March 27, the Criminal Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) arrested 7 people, including Pham Khac Tu (Tu Khi, 38 years old in Khoai Chau, Hung Yen), Vu Xuan Tung (24 years old in Quang Ninh), who is wanted nationwide.
The police seized more than 200 million VND, a Camry car, a K59 military pistol, and 14 bullets. At Tu's house, authorities seized 7 more knives, 4 iron pipes, 4 bullets from various guns, a machete, 450 million VND, more than 1,000 USD, and many documents related to lottery activities.

According to Colonel Ho Sy Tien, Director of the Criminal Police Department, Tu is a notorious gangster in Hung Yen, leading a gang of many criminals, specializing in gambling, lottery, football betting, protection rackets, loan sharking, and extortion. Tu's criminal organization has also spread to provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Hung Yen, and Quang Ninh, mainly protecting the transportation, exploitation of minerals and construction materials. Any business that wants to do business in peace must "pay taxes" to Tu.
A brick factory in Hung Yen was once harassed by Tu and his followers. Tu threatened the company to give them shares if they wanted to operate their business in peace. When they did not agree, Tu demanded a protection fee of 500 million VND, otherwise they would not allow vehicles to enter and exit the factory to get bricks.
The above enterprise had to pay 200 million VND. On March 27, when Tu and his accomplices came to collect the remaining money, the police raided and arrested them with the evidence.

At the investigation agency, Tu confessed to carrying a military gun for self-defense because he had been shot more than a month ago.
