Trump signals he wants to meet Putin in Da Nang

US President Donald Trump said he hopes to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin during the APEC summit in Vietnam.

Mr Trump told reporters that he "would like to have Putin's help" in resolving the North Korea crisis and said a meeting with the Russian president was "looking forward to".

At the same time, President Trump said that in the near future, he will make a decision on placing North Korea on the list of countries that support terrorism.

Talking to reporters on the presidential plane en route to Japan, Trump said that on the sidelines of the APEC summit he plans to hold a series of meetings with foreign leaders.

Earlier, in an interview with Fox TV, the US President said he wanted to discuss with President Putin about North Korea, Syria and Ukraine.

Donald Trump's Asia tour begins with a visit to Japan. The US President will then visit South Korea, China, Vietnam, where he will attend the APEC summit, and then the Philippines.
