Mr. Trump: There is a high possibility that North Korea will give up nuclear weapons
(Baonghean.vn) - On March 28, US President Donald Trump, who has agreed to hold a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in the near future, said that there is a high possibility that Pyongyang will give up its nuclear weapons.

On his personal Twitter page, President Trump wrote: “For many years and through many administrations, everyone thought that peace and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula was impossible with even the slightest chance. Now there is a very good chance that Kim Jong-un will do what is right for the North Korean people and for humanity. I look forward to our meeting!”
President Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping told him that the meeting between the Chinese leader and Kim Jong-un went very well and that Kim looked forward to meeting Trump.
However, the US leader stressed that at this time sanctions and maximum pressure on Pyongyang must be maintained at all costs.
The US president's comments came as the North Korean leader concluded an unprecedented and secretive visit to Beijing on March 28, as North Korea and China seek to mend strained ties ahead of Pyongyang's historic summit with Washington and, earlier, with South Korea.
According to Xinhua, in his meeting with Mr. Xi, Mr. Kim pledged to “denuclearize” the Korean Peninsula. Analysts say Mr. Xi may want to meet the North Korean leader to ensure that Pyongyang does not reach an agreement with President Trump that could harm China’s interests during the US-North Korea summit scheduled for May./.
