Reuters quoted the White House announcement as saying: "President Trump expressed the full support of the United States Government in responding to this attack and bringing those responsible to justice. The two Presidents agreed that terrorism must be defeated decisively and quickly."
According to the announcement, both leaders shared the view that terrorism is a disaster, and that it is necessary to join forces to eliminate this disaster.
Previously, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee of the Russian Federation said that at nearly 14:40 local time on April 3, an explosion occurred in a train car between the "Sennaya Square" and "Technological Institute" stations in St Petersburg.
The explosion killed at least 11 people and injured 45 others. The St Petersburg city government has declared three days of mourning for the victims of the explosion.
Two suspects are wanted for planning the attack. One of the suspects, who placed the explosive device in the subway car, has been identified as a 23-year-old man of Central Asian descent.
One of the suspects had links to radical Islamist groups operating in Russia. The other suspect brought a homemade bomb to the Uprising Square station. The second device, disguised as a fire extinguisher, was later discovered and defused by the authorities.
