(Baonghean) - When you come to Tien Thanh village, Chi Khe commune (Con Cuong), everyone knows that veteran Nguyen Ngoc Trung is famous for his profession in planting seedlings and recently, he also has a profession in cooking polygonum multiflorum extract. The extract is distilled from a medicinal plant called polygonum multiflorum, which is trusted by the people and is sold out as soon as it is cooked.

Visiting the Polygonum multiflorum distillation facility of Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Trung at the time when he was gathering raw materials to prepare a new batch according to the order. On the stove, the pot containing about 100 kg of raw materials was still boiling, steam rising up. While using a ladle to stir the water inside the pot, while pouring the water into the smaller pot next to it, he took the opportunity to tell us about his "fate" to this profession.

Nearly 30 years ago, while in the army stationed in the Northwest region, he was assigned to manage military logistics, so he participated in cooking various types of extracts, including Polygonum multiflorum extract, to nourish and treat soldiers. Along with knowing the cooking process to have a good quality extract product, he also knew very well about the uses of this extract as a tonic medicine specializing in treating nervous breakdown, neurological diseases, strengthening tendons and bones... He cherished a plan to successfully cook Polygonum multiflorum extract in his hometown, but due to his busy work, it was not until recently when he had the opportunity to come into contact with a facility specializing in cooking extracts to serve a traditional Chinese medicine store that he was motivated to try cooking.

At first, he only thought of cooking for his family and giving to close friends, but then the value and effects of the extract cooked by Mr. Trung were proven to be very good, so many people trusted and ordered it regularly. Just one year later, every 4 consecutive days and nights, Mr. Trung cooked a pot of extract with 100 kg of raw materials for a finished product of 5 kg. Working as a cook of Polygonum multiflorum extract for a while gave him experience in the process of condensing the extract, he had to be steady and have a low-medium heat. According to Mr. Trung, to have a good quality Polygonum multiflorum extract product, in addition to ensuring the cooking process, the input materials must be good, the large and fat Polygonum multiflorum roots must be selected and soaked in black bean water to detoxify, prevent mold, and prevent termites. Recently, through researching documents, he tried to cook and successfully added 2 more types of products: Polygonum multiflorum extract - Polygonum multiflorum extract; and Polygonum multiflorum extract (Co Di extract).

To proactively source input materials and take advantage of his experience in growing seedlings, Mr. Trung boldly rented 1.4 hectares of land, in which he planned to plant 1.2 hectares of ginseng. Currently, he has arranged to grow more than 32,000 ginseng pots and is continuing to grow 20,000 more pots to ensure the planned area. Mr. Trung said: The main source of raw materials is the Polygonum multiflorum from the mountainous region of Western Nghe An, which is of very good quality and abundant in quantity. However, the source of ginseng is not available in nature, so the family focuses on planting on a large area to proactively source input materials.

Mr. Trung confided that the profession of cooking Chinese clematis for him was like a “fate” because he knew the profession when he was in the army. The greatest thing is that he has contributed to processing a product to serve the health care needs of the people and to better contribute to increasing the economic value of by-products under the forest canopy, and to contributing to protecting and developing the forest.
