The resolution to dismiss Mr. Truong Tan Sang was passed by 92% of delegates on the afternoon of March 31.

With 447 delegates in favor(accounting for 90% of valid votes), Mr. Truong Tan Sang was dismissed from the position of President from today, March 31,26 people disagreed and one vote was invalid.

The resolution to dismiss Mr. Truong Tan Sang was later passed by 92% of delegates.

According to schedule, the list of nominees for the position of President will be discussed at the delegation and voted on on April 2.The person recommended by the Central Committee to succeed Mr. Sang is Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang.

Mr. Truong Tan Sang (67 years old), from Long An, was elected President in July 2011.

Starting from the grassroots as Director of Pham Van Hai Farm, Director of the Forestry Department, Secretary of Binh Chanh District Party Committee (HCMC), in 1988, he became Director of the Department of Agriculture, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee, Vice Chairman and then Chairman of the HCMC People's Committee.

During the period 1996-2000, he was a member of the Politburo and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee. During the next six years, he assumed the position of Head of the Central Economic Commission.

From 2006 to 2011, he was a member of the Politburo and Standing member of the Secretariat.National Assembly deputies of the 9th, 10th, 11th and 13th terms.

At the 12th Party Congress, he, along with National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, did not participate in the new Executive Committee.
