Mr. Vo Quoc Thang was elected as VPF chairman.

On the morning of December 14, the General Meeting of Shareholders of Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) with the participation of 28 clubs elected Mr. Vo Quoc Thang - Chairman of Dong Tam Long An Football Club as Chairman of VPF Board of Directors.

In addition, the Congress also elected nine members of the Board of Directors. Of these, three vice president positions belong to Mr. Le Hung Dung (Vice President in charge of finance of VFF), Mr. Doan Nguyen Duc (Chairman of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club) and Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien (Chairman of ACB Hanoi Club).

Mr. Pham Ngoc Vien (Vice President in charge of VFF's professional affairs) was also elected by the VPF Board of Directors to the position of General Director.

The two deputy general directors are Mr. Pham Phu Hoa (executive director of Dong Tam Long An Club) and Mr. Luu Quang Lam (executive director of SGFC Club).

Here, these members continued to elect Mr. Tran Duy Ly as head of the organizing committee of the Premier League for the 2011-2012 season and Mr. Nguyen Huu Bang as head of the organizing committee of the First Division for the 2011-2012 season.

In addition to personnel, the congress also listened to and approved the report on VPF's expected financial revenue and expenditure plan for 2012, and discussed the revised and supplemented professional football regulations in preparation for the 2012 season.

Contrary to expectations, at the last minute, Mr. Le Hung Dung - Vice President of VFF asked to withdraw from the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors as rumored due to lack of time and not being ready.

On the night of December 13, Mr. Vo Quoc Thang had a meeting with VFF leaders and some bosses and accepted to be the Chairman of the Board of Directors on the condition that Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien and Mr. Doan Nguyen Duc must also join the Board of Directors.

One notable piece of information is that Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan - General Secretary of VFF - is not on the list of nominees to join the VPF Board of Directors. Instead, VFF nominated Ms. Dinh Thi Thu Trang - Head of VFF Finance Department - as one of three VFF members to join the VPF Board of Directors.

Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan was also absent from today's VPF congress.

Speaking after taking office as Chairman of the Board of Directors of VPF, Mr. Vo Quoc Thang said: "I am both happy and worried.
