According to RIA Novosti on February 5, in an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky did not rule out the possibility of negotiating with Russian President Vladimir Putin to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

"This is the only scenario in which we can bring peace to the Ukrainian people and no more human losses. We will definitely take this step to meet with the four participants: Russia, the United States, Europe, Ukraine" - President Zelensky answered the question about how he would feel sitting at the negotiating table with President Putin.

Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin told journalist Pavel Zarubin, host of the “Moscow, Putin” program, that if there is a desire to find a compromise solution, negotiations on Ukraine can be held with anyone.

According to the Russian leader, the problem lies in the final signing of documents: due to his illegality, Mr. Zelensky has no right to sign anything.

President Putin reiterated that Ukraine needs to find a way to cancel the previous ban on negotiations signed by the head of the Kiev government. At the same time, if Mr. Zelensky himself wants to participate in the discussions, the Russian President expressed his readiness to assign special people to this.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Council of the "New Ukraine" movement Viktor Medvedchuk said in an article in the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper that Ukraine and President Volodymyr Zelensky are losing importance in the global plans of the administration of US President Donald Trump.

"President Donald Trump's policy is clear - to strengthen their own interests, and not to satisfy the interests of others. And this is bad news for the Zelensky administration, because he is not an American, which is easy to assume from the beginning," Medvedchuk said.

Additionally, Medvedchuk believes that Mr. Zelensky made a strategic mistake when he decided that he would be supported indefinitely.

According to Western media, Kiev is concerned about the rapprochement between Russia and the United States over the need to hold elections in Ukraine. At the same time, President Zelensky's office criticized the proposal of special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg as a failure if it included a ceasefire and subsequent elections.
