NHK/Voice of Russia reported on May 23 that the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) said it would send about 1,000 observers to monitor the presidential election in Ukraine on May 25.

The PACE press service said the delegation of 40 observers is led by Swiss MP Andreas Gross. PACE observers will work at the Ukrainian presidential election polling stations.

Earlier on May 22, the OSCE monitoring mission in Ukraine released a report on the situation in the country, saying that violent conflicts between armed separatists and Ukrainian government forces were escalating in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the east of the country.

Armed groups are trying to disrupt the activities of local election commissions with a plot to disrupt the election./.
