Indonesian cars flooded into Vietnam in August

The number of cars imported into Vietnam in August from the Indonesian market was nearly one and a half times higher than the number of cars from Thailand.

According to the General Department of Customs, in August, Vietnam imported 2,967 cars from the Indonesian market. Notably, this number is nearly 1.5 times higher than the number of Thai cars imported in August.with 2,053 units. In both markets, the average price of imported cars to Vietnam is not much different, fluctuating around 18,000-19,000 USD.

In the first 8 months of the year, the number of cars imported from the Indonesian market reached 15,540 units, a sharp increase compared to the same period last year of just over 1,800 units. With such a number, the import turnover of cars from Indonesia after 8 months was about 277 million USD.Meanwhile, imported cars from Thailand reached 23,843 units, up 10% over the same period, with a total turnover value of 431.8 million USD.

According to the General Department of Customs, in August, Vietnam imported 7,831 cars, up nearly 13% compared to the previous month. Cumulatively from the beginning of the year, the number of imported cars reached 65,485 units, equivalent to 1.39 billion USD. This level decreased by 5% in quantity and 14% in value compared to the previous month.

Since the beginning of the year, the number of imported cars from Thailand and Indonesia has accounted for over 60% of the total volume and nearly 51% of the value of imported cars into Vietnam because the import tax rate is more preferential than other countries.
