Breaking up a transnational drug trafficking ring

(Baonghean.vn) - On May 31, at Cau Treo border gate, Ha Tinh province, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Nghe An Police coordinated with the Cau Treo Border Gate Customs Sub-Department and Ha Tinh Border Guard to successfully break up Project 612N, dismantling a transnational drug trafficking ring from Laos to Vietnam for consumption.

The three arrested subjects are Nguyen Duy Thong, born in 1982, residing in Dong Vinh ward, Vinh city; Dang Quang Duc, born in 1979, residing in Nghi Trung, Nghi Loc and Cao Duc Nhan, born in 1978, residing in block 19, Hung Binh ward, Vinh city. The seized evidence is more than 1.1 kg of crystal meth.

Continuing to search the suspects' homes, the police seized 1 gun (pen type) and 25 bullets at Cao Duc Nhan's house.





Subjects and evidence of the case

Cao Duc Nhan is a veteran in drug trafficking and has escaped the police many times. Since 2004, Cao Duc Nhan has established a drug trafficking network from Laos to Vietnam with a variety of products: synthetic drugs, marijuana, crystal meth... Extremely careful in trading and delivering goods, Cao Duc Nhan assigned specific tasks to each network, delivering goods to transporters in the neighboring country. When the goods passed the border gate, Cao Duc Nhan "continued" and transferred them to Ho Chi Minh City for consumption.

Being the son-in-law of a “big drug family”, Cao Duc Nhan seems to have gained more experience in the trade. His mother-in-law, Nguyen Thi Hang, is currently serving a 20-year sentence for drug trafficking. His father-in-law is also serving a 20-year sentence for drug trafficking. His brother-in-law, Duong Tuan Anh, was recently killed by a drug dealer during a transaction. His sister-in-law is also serving an 18-year sentence for drug trafficking.

The destruction of this complex drug ring has been widely supported and praised by the people of Nghe An, especially during the launching of the Action Month against Drugs. The case is currently being further investigated./.
