According to the report presented at the conference, in 2017, the Ministry of Justice resolutely directed the implementation of 313 tasks assigned by the Government and the Prime Minister. Thereby, 279 tasks were completed, 34 tasks are still being carried out (mainly tasks with deadlines for completion in 2018), and there are no overdue tasks. The Ministry promptly responded to 117/117 petitions from voters during National Assembly sessions; 16/16 petitions from citizens and businesses in accordance with the Regulations on receiving, processing and responding to feedback and petitions from citizens and businesses on the Government's electronic information portal.

The Ministry of Justice has closely coordinated with ministries and branches in legal work, especially law-making, dissemination and education of law, monitoring law enforcement, and judicial appraisal.

The Ministry has completed 10 draft documents and projects on legal cooperation, including the promulgation of the "Project on orientation to strengthen international legal cooperation of the Ministry of Justice in the period of 2017 - 2020"; negotiated 17 new cooperation documents and continued to implement more than 30 signed agreements, programs and cooperation plans.

The sector has achieved many positive results with many regulations that better ensure human rights and civil rights, better serve the needs of people and businesses; put an end to the "backlog" of documents under the authority of the Government and the Prime Minister; the quality of appraisal, inspection and handling of legal documents has been significantly improved.

However, the report also pointed out that there are still some shortcomings and limitations in the judicial and legal work; some key tasks have not yet achieved final results such as the situation of postponing and withdrawing draft laws; the quality of some legal documents is not high. In the enforcement of civil judgments, the number of cases and money with conditions that have not been completed and transferred to the next period is still large; the situation of abusing certified copies is still large; legal work in many localities is still weak, etc.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Tran Dai Quang - Politburo member, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam highly appreciated the achievements of the judiciary in 2017, and at the same time requested the entire judiciary in the coming time to proactively advise the Party and State, organize and well implement the National Assembly's Law and Ordinance Building Program, and perfect the institution for developing a socialist-oriented market economy.

The President emphasized that judicial work must be considered a regular task of Party committees and authorities at all levels; administrative reform must be promoted, focusing on administrative procedure reform; judicial work must be brought closer and more friendly to the people, and people's trust in judicial agencies must be strengthened.

On that basis, the conference agreed on the contents of the implementation of judicial work in 2018, focusing on promoting the organization of law enforcement, especially new laws passed by the National Assembly; consolidating and perfecting the organization of judicial agencies; synchronously implementing solutions to improve the quality of providing public services in the judicial field, standardizing the process of receiving and handling requests of people and businesses related to administrative procedures in the field of judicial assistance, judicial administration, etc.
