Pham Van Quyen becomes deputy coach of U17 Song Lam Nghe An

After obtaining his coaching certificate, former striker Pham Van Quyen first participated in youth training at the SLNA U11 team in 2018. Although it was only a trainee period for the former national team player, he had his first title when he, along with coach Phan Nhu Thuat and SLNA U11, successfully defended the championship.

In 2019, Van Quyen became the assistant coach of U15 SLNA to assist his former teammate Phan Nhu Thuat. This talented group of players continued to bring glory to Nghe An youth football when they defeated U15 Thanh Hoa, successfully defending the championship.

After coach Phan Nhu Thuat was appointed to the SLNA first team coaching staff to participate in V.League 2020, coach Le Ky Phuong was assigned to lead the SLNA U17 team. This is an experienced coach with achievements in youth training.

Accordingly, the assistant for coach Le Ky Phuong is none other than Pham Van Quyen. This is considered a perfect combination between an expert in youth training and a player with rare innate technique in Vietnamese football at the U17 SLNA team.

The SLNA U17 team includes the core of the 2018 champion SLNA U15 team led by coach Le Ky Phuong and the SLNA U15 team that successfully defended the championship last year. Notably, there are 9 Vietnamese U15 players such as goalkeeper Dang Xuan Son, Tran Dinh Thanh, Nguyen Van Bay, Phan Duy Hao, Dang Ba Ha, Dam Duc Vinh, Ngo Van Bac, Cai Van Quy, Nguyen Quang Vinh.

In addition, the SLNA U17 team also has two key players, midfielder Dinh Xuan Tien and Nguyen Van Bach. These two players were born in 2003 and are currently playing for the SLNA U19 team participating in the 2020 National U19 Qualifiers.

In the history of the national U17 tournament, SLNA is the team that holds the record with 7 championships in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2012.

In recent years, U17 SLNA has continuously missed out on this championship. In 2018, U17 SLNA only won the silver medal when losing to Viettel in the final match and in 2019, U17 SLNA could not pass the qualifying round.
