Striving to plant 28 thousand hectares of winter corn

(Baonghean.vn) -On the afternoon of August 15, under the chairmanship of Mr. Ho Ngoc Sy - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Agriculture sector deployed the project to organize the 2014 winter crop production. Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended and gave a speech.

In the 2014 winter crop, the whole province strives to plant over 50 thousand hectares of various crops, including 28 thousand hectares of corn; and raise 3,500 hectares of fish in the third crop. Identifying this as a production season facing many difficulties in terms of weather, in directing production, the agricultural sector requires localities, based on the time frame and varieties, to base on the specific conditions of each region to have a sowing plan close to the actual situation to reduce damage caused by rain and floods. At the same time, priority is given to bringing short-term crop varieties that give high yields but do not affect the spring crop planting season into production.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed: Winter crop is considered the main crop of the year, bringing high economic value, so localities need to focus on propaganda and mobilization so that farmers can actively implement production. The agricultural sector and localities must focus on maximizing the exploitation of all resources, investing in developing winter crop production in a comprehensive and safe direction, striving to achieve the highest level in both area and productivity. The agricultural sector needs to coordinate to strengthen state management in the field of production and business of fertilizers and pesticides; do a good job of forecasting to help farmers avoid natural disasters and pests, while ensuring irrigation for production.
