(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, the most serious landslide on the Muong Xen - Tay Son (Ky Son) route after flash floods continues to be repaired and is expected to be open to traffic today, October 29.

After the historic flash flood in early October, in addition to hundreds of houses being damaged and completely swept away, many traffic routes in the area were also affected.Ky Son districtwas also severely damaged. Among them, the route from Muong Xen town through Ta Ca commune to Tay Son is considered the most arduous route because it was completely cut off, forcing people to walk for nearly a month.

It was not until October 18 that Ky Son district was able to mobilize machinery to level the soil and rocks; after 10 days of hard work, with the consensus and support of the authorities and the people, the Muong Xen - Tay Son road has now been basically leveled. Giant rocks were pushed to the side of the road to create a path for people.

However, the most difficult point is the landslide at Huoi Com stream, Son Ha village, Ta Ca commune. Because the soil and rocks at this stream were completely washed away after the flood, it created a deep abyss of about 7 meters, completely cutting off the road, cars cannot pass, for motorbikes, groups of people had to bring ropes to pull up the abyss together.

Faced with this situation, Ky Son district has come up with a plan to overcome this most difficult landslide point. Accordingly, the district installed 4 precast centrifugal concrete culverts D-1000 with a length of 4 meters each, a diameter of 1 meter, placed under the slot for water to flow through, then used machinery to fill the top of the culvert and raise it to a safe height so that people and vehicles can pass through this slot.

Mr. Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Head of the Economic - Infrastructure Department of Ky Son district, said: The district has mobilized 2 excavators, 2 trucks carrying raw materials, along with technical staff and people to focus on installing culverts and raising the height of the stream. It is expected that by the end of today, October 29, the Muong Xen - Tay Son route will be reopened after nearly 1 month of being completely cut off.

However, according to the leaders of Ky Son district, this is only a temporary solution. In the long term, the risk of flash floods and extreme weather still exists, so to ensure absolute safety for the people, it is necessary to build a bridge across Huoi Com stream, but due to the large budget, the locality has not been able to implement it.

The opening of the most arduous road in Ky Son district is extremely important, supporting the locality and people to overcome the consequences of flash floods, soon stabilize their lives, and facilitate relief work for affected households in the inner villages.
