Striving to build Con Cuong into an ecological town

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of March 20, in Vinh City, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting with departments and branches to collect opinions on the Project to build Con Cuong District into a Town in the direction of an ecological urban area. Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the meeting.

Also attending were representatives of relevant departments, branches and leaders of Con Cuong district.

The project to establish Con Cuong Town was officially established and approved in 2005 according to the decision of the Provincial People's Committee. In the process of developing according to urban criteria, Con Cuong has made many efforts in infrastructure investment and socio-economic development. Therefore, in 2011, the province agreed to let the District People's Committee submit to the Government the project to establish the Town. However, due to the lack of some conditions and criteria, the Government has not approved it; at the same time, it re-determines the position and role of Con Cuong, on that basis, assigns the People's Committee of Nghe An province and Con Cuong district to continue building infrastructure to complete the project to build Con Cuong Town in the direction of an ecological urban area.

Implementing the Government's direction, on June 18, 2014, Nghe An Provincial Party Committee issued a Notice agreeing to the policy of building Con Cuong district into a town in the direction of an ecological urban area. After reviewing and rebuilding the Project, Con Cuong District People's Committee submitted it to the Provincial People's Committee and related departments and branches for comments.

At the meeting, the representative of Con Cuong District People's Committee reported on the necessity of building Con Cuong Town into an ecological urban area, in which, in addition to the legal bases, the district summarized the growth steps in the past and the future plans. As planned, the ecological urban construction area of ​​Con Cuong includes 2,000 hectares, striving to establish a Town (type 4 urban area) by 2025 and from 2030 onwards, it will become an ecological urban area and be the driving force for development of the Southwest region of Nghe An. The new project developed by Con Cuong district this time pointed out the important geographical location of the district, the current status of infrastructure, investment resources, advantages and limitations, difficulties, Con Cuong district proposed solutions and implementation roadmap.

Commenting on the Project, representatives of departments and branches agreed with the proposal and aspirations of the Party Committee and people of Con Cuong district, but also suggested that based on the criteria of ecological urban areas, Con Cuong needs to highlight its strengths. Although there are no regulations on criteria of ecological urban areas, the district must define the pillars; clearly analyze the structure of investment resources because the Town needs a lot of resources because of its low infrastructure, but the internal strength of the district's economy is still weak...

Concluding the working session, Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee respectfully accepted the comments of the departments and branches; at the same time, he requested to continue to provide additional comments so that Con Cuong district can complete the Project to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for further approval. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee agreed with the proposal and aspirations of the Party Committee and people of Con Cuong district and requested that a number of departments and branches continue to pay attention and support Con Cuong district to consolidate a number of legal departments; allocate resources; clarify the identity orientation of Con Cuong Town, strive to soon turn Con Cuong into an ecological urban area, a driving force in the southwestern mountainous region of the province.
