Vietnam asserts its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. Any activity in these areas without Vietnam’s consent is a violation of Vietnam’s sovereignty.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi made this statement on March 7 when answering a reporter's question about Vietnam's reaction to the recent patrolling by a number of Chinese coast guard vessels in the East Sea, including the area of ​​Vietnam's Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.
“Vietnam affirms its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. Any activity in these areas without Vietnam’s consent is a violation of Vietnam’s sovereignty and we resolutely oppose it,” the spokesperson emphasized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ regular press conference./.
