Ha Thanh's main opponents in the final were Larisa Iordache (Romania, Olympic bronze medalist and two-time European champion) and the qualifying round leader Giulia Steingruber. In the first jump, Phan Thi Ha Thanh only achieved a difficulty level of 5.800 and although she jumped quite well with 9.150 technical points, she still ranked third after the two aforementioned opponents with a total score of 14.950.
This is the third international competition in 2013 that Vietnam gymnastics has participated in. After the success of Nguyen Ha Thanh, the team participating in the tournament in Doha had more joy when the girl from Hai Phong brought home a precious gold medal.
In the men's category, only Hoang Cuong was able to participate in some of the finals. In the qualifying round, Hoang Cuong ranked 3rd in the men's vault (14.975 points) and 4th in the parallel bars (15.050 points), thereby achieving enough points to compete in the finals (these events will be competed on March 29, local time). The group of Dinh Phuong Thanh and Nguyen Thanh Phuong were not successful in the pommel horse and horizontal bars events.
