Mr Valls said at least two attacks had been thwarted in the past week, warning that there would be new attacks and innocent victims in France. And it was his responsibility to tell the truth to the people.
Mr. Valls also said that there are currently about 15,000 people under the supervision of security forces due to signs of extremism.
In addition, he affirmed that France is facing the "greatest threat" from terrorism at home and abroad. Currently, an estimated 700 French citizens are fighting in Syria and Iraq, including 275 women and dozens of children.
Earlier this week, three female extremists were arrested in connection with a car filled with gas parked near Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France.
The capital Paris was also put on security alert after officials said they had foiled a "terrorist attack" believed to have targeted train stations.
