France sends stealth warships to Vietnam
On April 15, the French Navy's Mistral amphibious assault ship and La Fayette Courbet-class warship arrived in Vietnam as part of Operation Jeanne d'Arc, an annual combat training program for officers and cadets of various navies.
Speaking to the press in Ho Chi Minh City, Captain of the Mistral, Lieutenant Colonel Stanislas de Chargeres, emphasized that the group of ships in this 5-month campaign are all of the type deployed in areas of strategic importance to French interests. He affirmed: “That is why we are present in this Pacific Ocean area, especially the East Sea area.”
Meanwhile, right at the control area of the Courbet, the ship's captain, Lieutenant Colonel Xavier Bagot, confirmed to the press that this is one of the first stealth ships of the French Navy. Like the Mistral, the Courbet is fully equipped with weapons and equipment, supporting practical combat training for officers and students in all specialized fields, including 13 foreign students. In addition, the group of ships also has the presence of 2 helicopters and a special team from the British Royal Navy.

During their visit to Vietnam, the French naval ship will conduct a joint training program with the local navy, in addition to visits by representatives of local agencies. The campaign will also include joint training exercises with the US Navy and the Japanese Navy.
According to Mr. Stanislas de Chargeres, through joint exercises and visits of these warships, the French military forces ensure their mission of protection, presence and international cooperation in parallel with the implementation of freedom of navigation.
