Fines up to 40 million VND for prescription drug abuse

This is one of the new regulations of the Decree on administrative sanctions for violations in the field of medical examination and treatment and health insurance.

Acts such as prescribing more or adding more drugs, technical services... that the patient does not actually use, or abusing medical services in health insurance examination and treatment will be subject to a warning or fine, up to 40 million VND.

In addition, the act of creating medical records and prescribing drugs that are not actually used by the patient but not yet serious enough to warrant criminal prosecution will be subject to a warning or a fine of 500,000 VND to 24 million VND depending on the severity of the violation.

The Decree will take effect from December 1./.
