Launching the national campaign 'Let's clean up the sea'

On June 19, at Sam Son beach, Thanh Hoa province, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the National Volunteer Center, in collaboration with VTV24 News Center, Vietnam Television, organized a national launching ceremony for the campaign "Let's clean up the sea".

Attending the event were comrade Trinh Van Chien, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee; Le Quoc Phong, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Central Vietnam Student Association, and 2,000 union members and youth of Thanh Hoa province.

The “Let’s clean up the ocean” campaign took place over 3 years, from June 2016 to June 2019. Phase 1 was piloted in 4 central coastal provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue and achieved good results, receiving recognition and support from the majority of people in the campaign implementation area and the response of the social community.

The campaign aims to have at least 28,000 volunteers who are union members, youth, students, and pupils participating, establishing core youth volunteer teams to protect the marine environment in 28 provinces and cities. 100% of volunteers are equipped with uniforms, tools, and labor protection; equipped with at least 1,400 standard trash bins and propaganda signs in 28 coastal provinces and cities; giving 14,000 gifts to fishermen and fishermen's children in difficult circumstances in 28 coastal provinces and cities. ...

At the launching ceremony, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Student Association Le Quoc Phong said that every year, the Organizing Committee will conduct a periodic review and assessment of the campaign implementation results, develop plans for the following year in accordance with actual conditions; promptly commend and reward individuals and organizations with outstanding achievements in implementing the campaign. The volunteer force will increase propaganda to raise people's awareness; accompany people to participate in cleaning the sea, keeping the sea cleaner and more beautiful, and this is also the core force to spread this meaningful action to the community.

Within the framework of the launching ceremony, 2,000 union members, youths and local residents participated in cleaning up trash at Sam Son beach, Quang Vinh commune beach (Sam Son town), Hai Tien commune (Hoang Hoa district) and Hai Hoa commune (Tinh Gia district) of Thanh Hoa province. On the same day, simultaneously from 7:00 a.m., about 28,000 union members, youths, volunteer students and border guards joined the campaign "Let's clean the sea" in 28 coastal provinces and cities.

At the launching ceremony, FLC Group presented 150 bicycles and 150 backpacks to students who are children of fishermen with difficult circumstances, with a total value of 225 million VND. It is known that, along with the national launching ceremony of the "Let's clean the sea" campaign sponsored by Jetstar Pacific Airlines Joint Stock Company and FLC Group, during the 3-year implementation of the campaign, Jetstar Pacific Airlines will sponsor and accompany the campaign with a number of activities such as: launching in a number of coastal provinces and cities; the "Let's clean the sea" campaign journey; the "Marine Environment Protection Ideas" contest, the "Let's clean the sea" workshop... The total sponsorship cost is over 30 billion VND.
