Launch of speech contest for children to talk about their rights

The Department of Child Protection and Care (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs) has just launched a speaking contest "Children talk about the Convention on the Rights of the Child".

Children's representatives presented on child injury prevention at the "National Children's Forum".

Director of the Department of Child Protection and Care Dang Hoa Nam, Head of the contest's organizing committee, said that the contest aims to provide children with a useful playground, promoting their creativity, presentation and public speaking skills. From there, education will raise awareness of society and the children themselves about children's rights and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The contest is for children aged 7-16 and people aged 16-18 who are living and studying in Vietnam. The contest includes awareness of children's rights, assessment of the implementation of children's rights in the family, school, community, society and what children can do to better implement children's rights.

Contestants will submit a video clip in mp4, mov, m4v, 3gp… format with a duration of no more than 5 minutes. The work must be of good quality, with clear images and sound. Contestants will have to come up with their own ideas and create a video clip for their speech. Contestants can register and submit their video clip at the organizing committee’s website at www.hungbien.treem.gov.

The works that pass the preliminary round will be posted on the organizing committee's website for the audience to vote through the website. The time to receive the works is from December 1, 2015 to January 1, 2016. The preliminary round of the contest will take place from January 1-5, 2016. The award ceremony will take place in February 2016.

The contest prizes include: One grand prize of a 4-5 day trip to Thailand for two people (equivalent to 15 million VND), one first prize worth 5 million VND, one second prize worth 3 million VND, two third prizes worth 2 million VND. In addition, the organizers also awarded prizes for the best commentary content from 500,000 to 2,000,000 VND.
