Launching the 43rd UPU International Letter Writing Competition
The launching ceremony of the 43rd UPU International Letter Writing Competition with the theme “Write a letter describing how music can touch lives?” was held on October 9 at Trung Vuong Secondary School (Hanoi).

The competition is organized annually by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) for students aged 10 to 15; helping them improve their understanding and awareness of social and global issues; solidarity, friendship between nations, language expression skills, and understanding more about the role of the Postal sector in life and social development.
This is the 24th time Vietnamese students have participated in the contest, co-organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Education and Training; the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Vietnam Post Corporation and the Tien Phong Youth Newspaper.
The entry must be written in prose (not yet published in a newspaper or book), no longer than 800 words. The article must be clear, neat, handwritten on one side of the paper, sent in a stamped envelope, clearly stating the sender's address/receiver's address with the postal code (112815) and sent by post. The official winners will be recognized as national excellent students in the corresponding Literature subject and will receive additional points when considering transfer to another level.

The first prize winning letter from Vietnam will be sent by the Organizing Committee in its entirety along with an English or French translation to participate in the international competition.
The annual UPU international letter writing competition in Vietnam has been enthusiastically responded to by students, schools and teachers, with nearly 1 million entries.
After the launching ceremony at Trung Vuong Secondary School, the Organizing Committee will coordinate with all levels, sectors and organizations to launch the contest in a number of localities so that students know about the contest, participate actively and achieve high quality.
At the launching ceremony, the Organizing Committee also awarded Dao Thuy Thuy Duong, a student of grade 7/10, Tay Son Secondary School, Da Nang, who won the international encouragement prize in the 42nd UPU International Letter Writing Competition.
