Launching response to World Environment Day June 5

(Baonghean.vn) - In response to World Environment Day June 5, on the morning of May 29, in Cua Lo town, the Provincial Youth Union coordinated with the National Volunteer Center and Nghe An Environmental Protection Fund to organize a launching ceremony to mobilize response among union members, youth, students and pupils throughout the province.

Attending the launching ceremony were representatives of the National Volunteer Center; Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Provincial Environmental Protection Fund; leaders of Cua Lo town and more than 400 union members, youth and students.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Thom - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union called on all classes of people, especially union members, youth, students to join hands in protecting the environment.

In 2016, World Environment Day with the theme “Nature’s call and our actions” aims to inspire all humanity towards environmentally friendly living behaviors, reducing the increasing pressure on the natural ecosystems of the earth. Nghe An is blessed with natural terrain, forests, seas, a large river system and plains; associated with that is high biodiversity, including many valuable species of animals and plants.

Nghe An is also a province that is developing strongly, along with negative impacts on the ecological environment.

In recent times, together with all levels, sectors, localities, and social forces, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union has implemented many practical and effective programs and activities to join hands in protecting the environment. Every year, Youth Union chapters at all levels in the province have organized hundreds of campaigns to clean up the marine environment, urban environment, and rural environment; contributing to preserving a clean living environment.

The Youth Union at all levels also proactively advised and proposed to undertake many projects and youth tasks related to environmental improvement, such as planting trees and protecting the environment; dredging canals; maintaining "Green Sunday", "Volunteer Saturday"; organizing competitions to create models for effective and economical use of resources and environmental protection; establishing volunteer youth teams to participate in environmental protection...

The organization of the response to World Environment Day 2016 once again calls for the common awareness of all classes of people and union members, youth, pupils and students in protecting the environment, responding to climate change, using natural resources economically and effectively; enhancing sustainable production and consumption activities; at the same time promoting voluntary activities of young people in protecting the environment, saving energy, minimizing the impact of climate change on social life through specific and widespread actions, aiming to build a green - clean - beautiful environment.

On this occasion, the National Volunteer Center presented 10 gifts to students who are children of poor fishermen in Cua Lo town.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, many union members and young people participated in the parade, picked up trash, and cleaned the beach in Cua Lo town.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, all members and youths participated in a parade to promote World Environment Day and the Clean the Sea Campaign; organized garbage collection on nearly 2 km of Cua Lo town's coastline with dozens of cubic meters of garbage collected.
