Launching Traffic Safety Month and implementing the Campaign "Traffic culture with river peace"

(Baonghean) -This morning, August 31, in Vinh City, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and Provincial Traffic Safety Committee organized the launching ceremony of Traffic Safety Month 2011 with the theme "Preventing drinking alcohol for drivers" and implementing the campaign "Traffic culture for river peace".

Attending the launching ceremony were comrade Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, leaders of departments and branches, along with thousands of police officers, border guards, youth union members, students from schools in the province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: The goal of this year's Traffic Safety Month is to gradually raise awareness of all classes of people about the dangers of alcohol abuse when driving vehicles and the law-abiding consciousness of traffic participants. At the same time, enhance the responsibility of state management agencies, authorities at all levels, and social organizations in the activity of "preventing alcohol consumption for drivers". Along with that, the implementation of the Campaign to build a movement of "traffic culture with peace on the river" aims to raise awareness and responsibility of each individual, community and the whole society in ensuring order and safety of inland waterway traffic, creating a cultural environment in the actions and behaviors of each person, making a strong change in the awareness and actions of the masses in complying with the law when participating in traffic, building a civilized and safe waterway traffic environment.

This year's Traffic Safety Month focuses on launching peak campaigns of propaganda and mobilization with the theme "preventing drinking alcohol for drivers" with the participation and response of media agencies, socio-political organizations, agencies, units, and schools; stepping up patrolling, controlling, and strictly handling traffic safety violations, especially violations by car and motorbike drivers regarding alcohol concentration when participating in traffic; strengthening inspection and handling of violations of inland waterway traffic safety and order, especially passenger transport activities across and along rivers; resolutely suspending the operation of illegal ferry piers and ferries that do not ensure safety.

At the ceremony, representatives of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and Provincial Youth Union read speeches responding to the action program of Traffic Safety Month 2011.

The ceremony ended with a propaganda parade by road and water with the participation of many people from all walks of life.
