Launching "Month of action against drug abuse in 2012"

(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, June 25, at Vinh University, the Ministry of Education and Training held the launching ceremony of the "Month of Action on Drug Prevention and Control 2012". Attending the ceremony were: Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Quang Quy - Deputy Minister of Education and Training; Dr. Ngu Duy Anh - Director of the Department of Student Affairs; representatives of the National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control; Central Youth Union and related ministries and branches; Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, departments, branches and representatives of the Department of Education and Training of 5 provinces and cities in the Central region.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Quang Quy - Deputy Minister of Education and Training launched the 2012 Drug Prevention Action Month.

The speech at the launching ceremony by Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Quang Quy - Deputy Minister of Education and Training stated: 2012 is the first year of implementing the national target program on drug prevention 2012-2016. With the message "Global action for a healthy community without drugs", the education sector is determined to eliminate drugs from the educational environment; resolutely prevent drug abuse from re-entering schools through specific actions. With the motto "three no's": no testing, no using, no trading drugs; No concealing or ignoring drug manifestations in schools and communities; No alienating, discriminating against, or abandoning drug addicts, the entire sector strives to implement the criterion "For a school without drugs".

Representatives of provincial Departments of Education signed the emulation agreement.

In Nghe An education sector alone, drug prevention work has been promoted in schools through the following forms: propaganda about the dangers of drugs through extracurricular activities; coordination with functional agencies to carry out emulation movements to prevent drugs in schools; each teacher, student and university student is an active propagandist for drug prevention. Strive to have 100% of schools in the province free of drugs by 2015.

At the launching ceremony, representatives of the Department of Education of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri provinces signed an emulation agreement on drug prevention; representatives of universities and colleges in Nghe An province signed an agreement to implement the drug prevention target program for the period 2012-2016.

After the launching ceremony, thousands of university and college students in the province marched to promote drug prevention on main streets in Vinh city.
