On the morning of September 12, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Information and Communications and Vietnam Post Corporation organized a special issuance of the stamp set "Vietnam-Singapore Joint Issue Stamps: Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Establishing Diplomatic Relations (August 1, 1973 - August 1, 2013)."

At the same time, Singapore Post also held a ceremony to issue a set of stamps.

According to international regulations and practices, the stamp set is presented in two identical designs in terms of format and design style. One design has a specific theme about Vietnam, the national name and Vietnamese characters are shown on stamps issued in Vietnam. One design has a specific theme about Singapore, with the national name and Singapore characters, issued in Singapore.

The stamp set was designed by two artists Eng Siak Loy (Singapore) and To Minh Trang (Vietnam), introducing two typical and rare junglefowls of the two countries: the golden cash chicken of Vietnam and the red junglefowl of Singapore.

The stamps were depicted by artists of the two countries in a distinctive painting language with bright colors and many expressive meanings to acknowledge the achievements in the cooperative relationship between the two countries; remind to preserve and protect traditional values; open a new stage in bilateral cooperation between the two countries for peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

With the nature of postage stamps, the stamp set will be widely circulated in 192 countries and territories of the Universal Postal Union as well as to all countries in the world.

Speaking at the release ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Boi Lan, Director of the Postal Department (Ministry of Information and Communications) said: The release of the stamp set is a meaningful activity to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, a mark in the cooperation between the two countries' postal services, contributing to the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two States and peoples.

In the postal sector, Vietnam Post Corporation and Singapore Post have had a long-term cooperation. The two countries' postal services regularly connect and maintain air and sea mail routes. The volume of postal items and money transfer services between the two countries' postal services also increases steadily every year.

Regarding postage stamps, this is the second time that Vietnam Post and Singapore Post have jointly issued stamps.

Previously, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, on November 18, 2008, the two countries' postal services also specially issued the "Vietnam-Singapore Joint Issue Stamps" including 2 stamps designed by Vietnamese and Singaporean artists./.
