Issuing a set of stamps commemorating the 250th anniversary of the birth of Great Poet Nguyen Du

On the morning of December 5, in Ha Tinh, the Ministry of Information and Communications, Vietnam Post Corporation and the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province organized a special issuance ceremony of a stamp set commemorating the 250th anniversary of the birth of Great Poet Nguyen Du.

Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Vietnam Post Corporation, leaders of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province and representatives of the Nguyen Tien Dien family.

The stamp set includes 1 stamp and 1 block designed by artist Nguyen Du (Vietnam Post Corporation) with stamp size 32x43mm, block 90x90mm.

The stamps are images exploited from folk materials about Nguyen Du and The Tale of Kieu. Around the background of the block is the plot of this immortal work.

In the center of the block is a stamp depicting Nguyen Du studying diligently in his study and a Nom edition of "Truyen Kieu", with a shining moon in the distance.

With warm yellow and nostalgic brown tones, the block pattern takes viewers back to the distant past where the story was created by the Great Poet into the masterpiece "Truyen Kieu," a classic work of Vietnamese literature.

The stamps are printed at the Postal Stamp Printing One Member Limited Liability Company using offset printing method. The stamp set is available on the public postal network from December 5, 2015 to June 30, 2017.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Information and Communications presented a set of Nguyen Du stamps to Ha Tinh province; Vietnam Post Newspaper presented 1,500 books to Nghi Xuan district; Vietnam Post Corporation presented a set of stamps to the Ha Tinh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism./.
