According to Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Dao Minh Tu, the coin is both a souvenir and a promotion of beautiful images of Vietnam such as: the image of Phu Dong Thien Vuong (Thanh Giong), the stylized image of ancient coins in the background behind the building symbolizing the monetary sovereignty of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the motifs on the Ngoc Lu bronze drum; the image of beloved Uncle Ho...

Through this souvenir, people can introduce it to friends at home and abroad, those who are interested in the economy in general and banking and monetary activities in particular, and especially interested in Vietnam's currency.

According to the State Bank of Vietnam, the souvenir coin has a face value of 100 VND, is a symbolic denomination, has no payment value in circulation, is 82mm x 163mm in size (larger than regular polymer banknotes); on high-quality cotton paper, with the main color red.

Although it is a souvenir coin, it uses the best current coin technology, similar to the US dollar. This is a test step for Vietnamese currencies in the future.

The main security techniques are lotus-shaped watermark and number 65; positioning pattern; moving color-changing ink; security thread with moving effect used on euro, dollar; gold-colored ink with luminescent effect….

The 100 VND commemorative banknote will be sold at 20,000 VND/note (loose-leaf type) and 25,000 VND/note (type wrapped in envelope, with bilingual Vietnamese-English notes). The State Bank and commercial banks will organize the sale of these two types of banknotes widely throughout the system to serve the widespread gift-giving needs of individuals and organizations in need.

It is known that this is the second time the State Bank has organized the printing of souvenir money. The previous printing of souvenir money with a face value of 50 VND was issued to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the State Bank of Vietnam (1951 - 2001).
