1 ton of bamboo shoots found to contain yellowish substance
On April 13, news from the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Product Quality Management of Quang Tri province said: This unit discovered a business household using Auramine yellow substance to soak bamboo shoots and sell them at Dong Ha market (Dong Ha city - Quang Tri).
On April 6, the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Product Quality Management of Quang Tri province took bamboo shoot samples from Ms. Xuan's bamboo shoot trading point for testing. The results showed that this bamboo shoot sample tested positive for yellow o substance.

Immediately after discovering the yellow substance, the authorities sealed 1 ton of bamboo shoots containing the yellow substance contained in 15 plastic barrels of Ms. Xuan.
According to Ms. Xuan, this batch of bamboo shoots was re-imported from another trader named Huong Tuan residing in Khe Sanh town, and she did not use this substance at all.
The use of yellow ochratum in the process of pickling bamboo shoots is very popular because it gives the bamboo shoots a beautiful yellow color.
Mr. Le Quang Bien - Head of the Inspection Department of the Quang Tri Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Product Quality Management - said: In the coming time, the unit will strengthen inspection and supervision at wholesale markets. If any cases are detected, they will be strictly handled according to the provisions of the law.
Currently, the unit is conducting a special project to inspect and strictly monitor the use of banned substances in vegetables and fruits, including: yellowing agents, bleaching agents, pesticide residues... Mr. Bien said.
In Quang Tri province, functional units have inspected and taken samples at major markets in the area such as Dong Ha, Gio Linh market and Quang Tri town market.
The results showed that 5/7 samples were positive for yellow mold, of which Dong Ha had 3 samples, Gio Linh 1 sample and Quang Tri Town 1 sample.
