About one kilometer from Binh Long Town General Hospital, the atmosphere in the old house of Nguyen Thi Thu Trang (26 years old) and her husband has become sadder in recent days, after they learned the DNA test results that the daughter they have raised for more than 3 years is not their biological daughter.

Sitting pensively watching her youngest daughter still innocently playing with the neighbor's children in the yard, Ms. Trang said,On the morning of January 10, 2013, she gave birth in the same room with a woman in Hon Quan district. She gave birth about 15 minutes before the other woman. The two babies were then two.midwifeTake her to bathe, then carry her out for relatives to see her face before handing her back to her mother in the resort room.

Five days later, Ms. Trangdischarged from the hospital, took the baby girl home to raise normally without knowing about the mistake. Meanwhile, the mother in the same room was discharged from the hospital a day before. The two houses are about 5 km apart.Seeing the baby grow up and not look like anyone else in the family, many people talked about it but didn't think about the hospital giving the wrong baby," said Ms. Trang.

Early May, while selling bread in Phuoc An commune, Hon Quan district, Mr. Nguyen Duy Nguyen (61 years old, Trang's father) was surprised to see the woman who gave birth in the same room as his daughter 3 years ago holding a baby girl who looked very similar to Trang's first child, so he became suspicious. Encouraged by her family, Trang boldly brought the baby to Ho Chi Minh City for a DNA test and discovered that her daughter was not related by blood.

"Although we were mentally prepared before going to the hospital, when the DNA results came out, my husband and I were shocked and devastated," the mother said sadly.

Ms. Trang's family immediately went to meet the couple who were raising a baby girl who looked like their own to "talk" and at the same time complained to the hospital. "The other family did not believe us, saying we wanted to steal their child. But gNow that we have the results, we just hope to adopt our biological child. If we are returned, my husband and I will still love the child we are adopting as our own, because after all, he has called us mom and dad and has been with us for the past 3 years.", Ms. Trang confided.

Deputy Director of Binh Long Town General Hospital said,After reviewing the process and records, the two pregnant women gave birth at the same time at 6:30 a.m. 10/1/2013, both girls and weigh 3 kg."According to the procedure, the hospital always has identical symbols and markings for the mother and baby to avoid confusion when they are born together. However, perhaps because the two babies were born at the same time, an unfortunate mistake occurred while bathing and handing them over to the family.", said Dr. Cuong.

According to the hospital's leadership, after learning the DNA test results, on June 24, the unit invited the two families and local government representatives to come up for mediation.looking for solutions to promote the return of the children to their biological parents, but the three parties still have not reached a common voice.

"The hospital has admitted its mistake to the two families andgive directionprovide moral support of 10 months of minimum wage as well as material expenses incurred by both parties over the past 3 years. However, kAt the end of the mediation session, both families still had no opinion on the compensation level or the time to exchange the two children, so the hospital is waiting.", Mr. Cuong said and said, in the immediate future, prioritize solving the problem of returning the child, thenConsider handling the responsibility of the two midwives and those involved.
